Calgary’s Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium is one of two twin venues presented as a gift to the province of Alberta in 1954. It and its twin, the Northern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium in Edmonton are historic buildings that combine modern innovation with lasting charm, and they’re both excellent places to take in a show. Luckily, there’s always an incredible line-up of things to see at the venue here in Calgary! Here are some upcoming events that are worth a trip.
Bill Nye has a passion for science, and for making science fun and accessible. He rose to fame as a recurring player on Seattle’s cult classic TV show, Almost Live, where his science demonstrations and sketch acting chops were crafted and honed. Soon after he landed the internationally lauded children’s science program, Bill Nye The Science Guy and for years taught children interesting facts about science, and how beautiful and complex our world really is. Catch him and his science-tastic stage show on November 16 at the Southern Alberta Jubilee Auditorium.
Waitress, the musical based on the film by Adrienne Shelly, is a hit with a lot of heart and love for the people in life who don’t always get to have their stories told. She dreams of making it big by winning a pie-baking contest and making a fresh start. Her life changes forever when she falls in love with her also-married obstetrician and they have an affair – come see this affirming story about how life isn’t always as simple as we plan on November 19!
